Can there be a garden?
A small appropriately sited, well-maintained vegetable garden likely will meet the subdivision covenants on many lots in Alexander Woods. Wake County residents can have their garden or lawn soils analyzed free of charge and receive recommendations for fertilization as part of services provided by the NC Cooperative Extension. Stop by their offices at 4001-E Carya Drive, Raleigh to pick up a few of the small collapsed cardboard containers that you will use to package the soil. Next, either return your samples by mail or drop them off at 4300 Reedy Creek Road, Raleigh, and wait three to four weeks for your recommendations.
The following link takes you to detailed information on the sampling process and how to understand the report.
